We wrote about the Davinci IQ2 here with the release of their limited edition carbon fiber model which Davinci released back in July 2022. The Davinci IQ2 was the follow up to the flagship Davinci IQ, a durable portable conduction vaporizer, which highlighted Davinci as one of the best-in-class manufacturers of dry herb vaporizers.Â
Despite some perceptions that the IQ2 and IQC were too similar to the original IQ and not a significant upgrade, DaVinci maintained a reputation for quality and performance. This established trust in the brand, leading to strong sales, as consumers recognized the value of a well-crafted vaporizer in the IQ series whether it be the IQ2 or IQC models.
The consistent sales of the IQ2 and IQC, along with brand reputation, made DaVinci an attractive acquisition target. Recognizing this potential, Greenlane acquired DaVinci in 2021 to leverage the success of Davinci’s established vaporizers to further enhance their portfolio. However, this did not turn out the way Greenlane had hoped. With lack of innovation in Davinci’s line up, it appeared to be a another vaporizer brand on life support which may never release a new vaporizer.
Fortune smiled on DaVinci earlier this year (2024), when the brand was repurchased from Greenlane. Shortly after, the highly anticipated DaVinci IQ3 was reimagined and launched, marking an exciting new chapter for the company.

We have seen a strong resurgence this year in both herb and concentrate vaporizers with new releases from – Storz & Bickel, Arizer, Puffco and Dr. Dabber all of which have brought us new models.Â
Much like the IQ3 these other new vaporizers rely on slight improvements on the foundations of their flagship models which have made them so successful. Think of it like a vehicle. A 2015 model is still going to be pretty much the same car as the 2020 but the 2020 model more cutting edge.
The Davinci IQ3 uses the same foundational design as the original IQ – a strong brushed aluminum alloy body, long ceramic chamber and zirconia internals which make the vapor cooler and more flavorful. The upgrades in a more powerful battery, larger chamber and improved zirconia internals and airflow, demonstrate Davinci utilizing modern technology which was not available years ago.
Innovation is key to success in any market. While the vaporizer market has been in decline from its hay days, brands which have adapted and still released new products have weathered the storm and come out ahead. This is no more obvious than looking to Firefly and PAX who saw their chief innovators exit, leaving both companies stagnant shells of their former glory. This was nearly the case for Davinci but now they have new life. We’re excited to see what the IQ3 brings to the vape market and what comes after.Â
